I’m a writer of prose that likes to be understood as poetry. It is not the easiest niche to occupy as it can be difficult to have this sort of work accepted, but I love it. I am focusing mainly on prose poems in the future. I have been writing for more than half my life and will continue to do so for the rest of my life (I hope).
I also enjoy taking photos and juxtaposing them with my work – something I hope to do more of in the future.
I have a BA and MA in English literature and creative writing. I am currently freelancing for a number of things – doing music and book reviews, articles, interviews and essays.
I am inspired by the lyrics of Stephen Malkmus and Morrisey (in his Smiths days). I have immense respect for the following authors: Gail Scott and Catherine Kidd (both of whom I’ve had the privilege of being taught by) Corey Frost, Mary Burger, Irvine Welsh, Oscar Wilde, Allen Ginsberg and Charles Bukowski in addition to writers that manages to write for people who don’t normally care to read.
I see this blog as a place where I can feel free to get back to my writing at its best after years of creative writing workshops that have often had a limiting effect on my work.
